Lew started out in music playing the
piano, but always wanted to learn guitar. When he finally got a
hold of his first guitar, it didn't take him long to figure out
that it was "his" instrument. At first he wanted to be the next
Eddie Van Halen, but soon found that his songwriting was becoming
his main focus and not his technique. "It just seemed that no one
was writing good songs anymore." After having a hard time
finding anyone to sing with him, he took on the task himself.
He's played with several different bands such as Darkheart, Golem,
Fun Factor 9, and Liquor Goat. He gained extensive knowledge
about playing live, recording and being a working musician from
each band.
When asked what he'd like to be
remembered by, Lew replied, "I'd just like people to get some
meaning from my songs - for people to actually listen to what I'm
saying." Lew takes pride in the fact that he writes songs with a
purpose and tries to perform his vocals in a way that can be
understood easily, but still convey emotion.
In his spare time, Lew does some
artwork (mainly digital), web design, martial arts and messes with
his gun collection (or his "arsenal" as some like to call it). He
enjoys reading speculative books dealing with "fringe" subjects
such as Egypt, Atlantis, Mars, etc. "I like to think that fact
really is stranger than fiction, and it's always more interesting
to read something that could POSSIBLY be true."
Lew's guitar playing and vocals mix
originality as well as meaning in an easy to swallow blend. "I
like songs with meaning, but I hate artists who get real preachy -
they tend to lose the audience after awhile."
"I like to make people think about
things they take for granted quite a bit," Lew says. His favorite
statement is, "What do you believe and why do you believe it ?" |
