INTERVIEW WITH COILBACK 2006
February 1, 2006

2006 brought a lot of changes for Coilback - Eddie Johnson (bass) had to leave the band due to relocation, the band with new drummer, John McCauley is getting ready to go into the studio to record the follow up album to "Love is Dead," and the media attention is picking back up.  Below is an interview with John Navarro (lead guitar), John McCauley (drums) and Lew Morris (lead vocals / rhythm guitar).

So how do you feel about Coilback's accomplishments in the past year ?
JOHN M:
I have only been in the band for 4 months, but I love it so far.
JOHN N:
Coilback has come a long way over the past year, we've had a lot of bumps in the road but we've managed to pull through sounding harder than ever...heh I said harder.
LEW M:
Well, I have to say, I don't ENJOY having to change members all the time, but I can say that so far every change we've ever made has been for the better, so in the long run, I can't complain.

What are your goals for the upcoming year ?
JOHN M:
To get a solid stable rhythm section and a new CD
JOHN N:
To die of an overdose of some sort, preferably after we finish recording...or during...good soundbytes.
LEW M:
Get the new album recorded, maybe do a bit of touring, and, oh yeah...to rule the world....

Where do you feel your place is in the band right now ?
JOHN M:
Drums...hee hee
JOHN N:
Between the scrotum and the anus.
LEW M:
Between two Johns...

Any new material worth mentioning ?
JOHN M:
It's all new to me and all worth mentioning.
JOHN N:
All the new stuff is amazing, "Scapegoat" is my favorite for obvious reasons. "Take Away My Time" will lull you into a false sense of security then donkey punch you.
LEW M:
Don't know how to follow up an answer like John's, but I have to say, the new stuff blows away the old stuff and I think people will be impressed with the new album.  Here's some of the new song names for those interested in that sorta thing (those who have seen us live have heard most of these): Blind Eye, Nothing to Say, Scapegoat, Has-Been, Take Away My Time, and we may possibly record Bring You Down.

How do you feel about the band as a whole ?
JOHN M:
Great group of guys, No egos or primadonnas.
JOHN N:
Actually it's more like a paraplegic, but a selfmade one and better off having lost some limbs.
LEW M:
Who are you calling an A-hole...oh...I'd say right now, things are pretty good between us all - just waiting for someone who can take over the 4-string duties.
Thoughts about the new album ?
JOHN M:
just plain fear..........just kidding
JOHN N:
The upcoming album will kick you in the nuts, steal your girlfriend, return her used, and you'll never notice because just listening to it may put you in a coma...after which they'll remove your feeding tube and you'll die with a goofy smile on your face....all because you listened to the new album.
LEW M:
I'm thinking we need to go record it...past that, I think it'll blow the old one out of the water - assuming it was in water to begin with.
Thoughts on live performance ?
JOHN M:
That's where I shine the most. But, I'm not one to toot my own horn.    He said toot.
JOHN N:
>strange silence from John<
LEW M:
>Looking at John M and shaking his head<

Any thoughts on the members who have left recently (or member changes in general) ?
JOHN M:
The new drummer seems ok.
JOHN N:
I remember one of them saying "I wish I knew how to quit you"...fags...nothing worse than gay cowboys eating pudding.
LEW M:
Well, I've got no use for people who backstab the rest of the band, so on the drummer situation - I'm happy that's over and done with.  It's nice to have a drummer that isn't talking a bunch of BS behind your back and not needing to play every cymbal he has every second of every song.  As for losing Ed - it sucks, but he's got his thing and we've got ours so I wish him luck....was that blunt enough for ya ?

Where do you see Coilback by the end of this year ?
JOHN M:
With a new bass player, a new cd, and bitches, bitches , bitches, everywhere.
JOHN N:
I hear a rumor at least one of us will die from an overdose of some sort!! Stay tuned!!
LEW M:
New album, a dead guy, and a bunch of bitches everywhere (mainly the guys in the band - just kidding)

Final Word ?
JOHN M:
I'm not Jerry Springer.
JOHN N:
FUCK
LEW M:
Fuck all those out there that pretend to be on our side and then backstab us....we have a surprise for you...
