Coilback
Self-titled

This band is a nice change of pace with the underground becoming overrun with Horror Rock and all. Not that you can ever get enough of the stuff, it is just damn nice to hear some good ole metal every now and again. Straight out of Texas, Coilback brings a mouthful of metal to the table. Unrelenting I might add as well.

For a 5 song ep, Coilback really lay it all on the line, and you can tell. Lew Morris handles all guitars and vox and he can hang with the best singers and slingers out there. Bassist Steve Chapman, keeps the low end heavy as shit too! Drummer Steven Green is a monster drummer. The breakdowns and the double bass licks have to come from insanity.

The cd starts out with "Take It From Me". This songs has to be one of the heaviest on the cd, the riffs are just dazzling to the ear. The double bass licks and bass lines fit so tightly together that you can't tell them apart at times. "Hate Me" is again another chunk of metal that will leave you spitting teeth for days. Morris sings exceptionally well on this track. "Thrown Away" has got riffs for your ass! The riffs are just too sick. The vox on this track are very strong also. Hell, the vox are great throughout the whole cd.."Your Misery" is as straightforward as it gets with a rock song. Think back in the old days of arena rock and you will get the point I am trying to get across. "Won't Follow" is the slowest of the 5 tracks and it's not really slow. he he. Again the riffs are brilliantly played.

Out of 5 songs, 5 of them will clean your clock. I strongly suggest picking this cd up. The price couldn't be any cheaper for such a rare gem in the underground. For 6 bucks you can get your ass rawked off! I am looking forward to hearing a lot more from this band.
